The tenor Sung Min Song, who comes from Seoul, first completed a degree in computer science and worked in that profession before studying singing at Yonsei University in Seoul and then at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, where he took a master’s degree in lied interpretation and the concert diploma. He is a prizewinner of the Richard-Strauss-Wettbewerb, the Anneliese-Rothenberger-Wettbewerb and the Concours International de Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini in Paris (Grand Prix), among others. He was a soloist at the Saarländisches Staatstheater and at the Staatstheater Augsburg and has been a member of the ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim since the 2024/25 season. There he has sung Turiddu in “Cavalleria rusticana”, Alfredo in “La Traviata” and Luigi in Puccini’s “Il trittico”, among other roles. In concert he has sung Verdi’s Messa da Requiem under Kent Nagano with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with the Bochumer Symphoniker, among other works. In 2018 Cybele Records released Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and the Jesus-Passion with him as tenor soloist.
