Susanne Hofmann studied violin at the Meistersinger-Konservatorium Nürnberg, at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and at the Franz-Liszt-Akademie Budapest with Eszter Perényi. She is deputy concertmaster of the second violins of the Magdeburgische Philharmonie and devotes herself to chamber music from sonata recitals to tango. Her encounter with Argentinian musicians and her engagement with the music of Astor Piazzolla led in 2007 to the founding of the Fracanapa New Tango Quintet; alongside this she plays in the piano trio TRIOnfal. She has given concerts at festivals such as the Max-Reger-Tage and the Magdeburger Domfestspiele, at the Berliner Philharmonie and in numerous European countries and in Japan. She is the founder and artistic director of the Oberpfälzer Tangofestival and gives courses on violin and bow technique as well as on tango violin at Susannes Violin Academy. In 2026 hd-klassik released the album Piazzolla Resonances, on which she plays violin.
