Sven Pollkötter

Sven Pollkötter studied percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Peter Prommel and at the Conservatoire de la Musique in Luxembourg with Guy Frisch and Paul Mootz; he attended masterclasses with Bart Quartier and Emmanuel Séjourné among others as well as the Akademie Open Form of musikFabrik NRW with Earle Brown. Since 1999 he has worked freelance as a duo, ensemble and orchestral percussionist and has collaborated with Ensemble Modern, the HR-Sinfonieorchester, the Radio Kamer Orkest, the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen among others. After a scholarship from the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie in 2004 he became a regular guest of Ensemble Modern. In 2002 he received first prize at the Improvisationswettbewerb für Junge Kultur of the Düsseldorf festival Altstadtherbst. Since 2014 he has taught a percussion class at the Musikakademie der Stadt Kassel Louis Spohr. In 2014 Cybele Records released Jacqueline Fontyn and the Concerto with him on percussion.
