Sven Pollkötter studied percussion at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Peter Prommel and at the Conservatoire de la Musique in Luxembourg with Guy Frisch and Paul Mootz. Since 1999 he has worked freelance as a duo, ensemble and orchestral percussionist and has collaborated with Ensemble Modern, the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the Radio Kamer Orkest and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, among others. After a fellowship at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in 2004 he became a regular guest of Ensemble Modern. In 2002 he won first prize at the Düsseldorf improvisation competition and since 2014 has led a percussion class at the Musikakademie Kassel „Louis Spohr“.
