Thomas Gerwin

Composer / Sound artist / Improviser

Born 1955, Thomas Gerwin is a classically trained composer, sound artist and improviser. After studying guitar, musicology and German philology he took a postgraduate degree in composition with a focus on electronic music in Stuttgart with Erhard Karkoschka, Ulrich Süße and David Mason. His work comprises concert and performance music, acousmatic music, multichannel and live electronics, radio and film music as well as sound installations and sound objects for public space. In Berlin he founded and directed the Internationales Klangkunstfest and teaches improvisation and electroacoustic music at the exploratorium berlin.
