Born in 1950; Albrecht Imbescheid is a German composer and flautist and lives in Stuttgart. In his piece “Farben der Stille” for eight players (1990/91) he turns to what can hardly be put into words: the six parts, of which only the last carries a title, show different sides of silence – as inner contemplation and self-perception and as an expression of perceptions beyond language. In the Cybele catalogue the work gave its name to the album Colours of Silence (2003); it was recorded by the Ensemble gelberklang.
