Alfred Harth

Born in Kronberg im Taunus on 28 September 1949, Alfred Harth, also known as Alfred 23 Harth or A23H, is a German multi-instrumentalist, composer and multimedia artist. After early impulses from Carlo Bohländer and Emil Mangelsdorff he founded a jazz group while still at school and from the late 1960s developed, with the group Just Music, an open practice between improvisation, composition, image and language. Harth works with saxophones, clarinets, electronics and other instruments and has been a member of the groups E.M.T., Cassiber, Oh Moscow and Vladimir Estragon, among others. His artistic work deliberately crosses the boundaries of free jazz, new music, performance, media art and experimental music theatre.
