Bachchor und Bachorchester Wiesbaden

The Bachchor Wiesbaden was founded in 1978 by Klaus Uwe Ludwig, church musician at the Lutherkirche, and brings together around 120 singers. Its permanent partner is the Bachorchester Wiesbaden with professional musicians, drawn above all from the Hessisches Staatsorchester Wiesbaden, together with specialists in historically informed performance. Alongside the great works of Johann Sebastian Bach and the oratorio repertoire, the formation also devotes itself to rarely performed sacred choral music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Concert tours have taken the choir to Gdansk, Paris, Budapest, Ghent, Wroclaw, England and the USA, among other places. In 2003 it received the Kulturpreis of the Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden. Jörg Endebrock (from 2008) was succeeded in January 2020 by Niklas Sikner as director of the Bachchor. On the Cybele album Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and the Jesus-Passion (2018) the Bachorchester is represented.
