Dave Bassett

Dave Bassett is an American songwriter and musician. Originally from Chicago, he started out as a rock musician and moved to Los Angeles for a band project. He received ASCAP Pop Awards in 2010 and 2011 for the Shinedown songs “Second Chance” and “If You Only Knew”; he also contributed as a songwriter to Halestorm’s “Love Bites (So Do I)” and wrote “Fight Song” with Rachel Platten, whom he had encouraged to write it. For “Ex’s & Oh’s” he and Elle King were nominated for the 2016 Grammy for Best Rock Song. On a gala recording by Doc Heilein and Friends, Matthias Heilein sings “Ex’s & Oh’s”, which he wrote with Elle King; the demo, on which he played an old Kay guitar, became the released recording.
