DoelenEnsemble

The DoelenEnsemble was founded in 1990 by Huub van Dael and the composer Peter-Jan Wagemans as the resident ensemble of De Doelen in Rotterdam. It is devoted to the formative currents of twentieth- and twenty-first-century music and sets established works in relation to new compositions and first performances. Characteristic are programmes that join sound to other media, light, film, dance and unusual venues, testing new forms of the concert experience. As a fixture of Dutch contemporary music, the ensemble works with composers, soloists and cultural partners in Rotterdam and internationally.
