The Ensemble Oriol Berlin was founded in 1987 and was a freelance string orchestra working without a permanent conductor, with a repertoire from the Baroque to the present day. Under the artistic director Sebastian Gottschick programmes were created that combined earlier music with contemporary works and first performances. In the course of the reorganisation of the Potsdam orchestral landscape, the Ensemble Oriol joined with the Persius Ensemble from Potsdam to form the Kammerakademie Potsdam, founded in 2001. On Cybele Records the ensemble can be heard on the album Rolf Riehm: Orchestral Works (2005).
