Jazz quintet of the trumpeter and composer Eric Vloeimans (born 1963). Vloeimans studied classical and jazz trumpet at the Rotterdams Conservatorium, graduated with honours in 1988 and continued his studies on a scholarship at the New School in New York, where he performed with the bands of Frank Foster and Mercer Ellington, among others. With the band PB 5 he won the International NOS Meervaart Jazzconcours. His own quartet, with which he released his first album in 1991, was followed in 2006 by the chamber jazz trio Fugimundi; from 2007 he was active above all with the electric band Gatecrash. On the album Bernd Alois Zimmermann: Requiem für einen jungen Dichter (2008) the Eric Vloeimans Quintet plays the part of the jazz combo under Bernhard Kontarsky, accompanying Claudia Barainsky’s soprano as a blues in the Elegia.
