Ferdi Brendgen

The sound engineer Ferdi Brendgen was involved in the early live electronics at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. From 1971 he belonged to an ensemble that had emerged from the group MHz directed by Günther Becker, that consisted exclusively of members of Folkwang and that worked with installations built specially by the Berlin firm Hofschneider for the electronic transformation of instrumental sounds. The Folkwang documentation names Brendgen alongside Günther Becker, Alfred Alings, Mirko Dorner, Pierre W. Feit and Dirk Reith as a member; the ensemble existed in changing line-ups until about 1973/74. On the Cybele album Günther Becker: Collected Works – Electroacoustic Music (2004) he is named in the sound engineering.
