* 1966; cellist; studied with Rudolf Gleißner in Stuttgart and with Wolfgang Boettcher in Berlin, where he passed his concert examination with distinction. He attended masterclasses with André Navarra, Natalia Gutman, Heinrich Schiff and Leonard Bernstein, among others; he was a prizewinner at the 10th Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera in Trapani. In 1994 he became principal cellist of the Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lübeck, to which he still belongs today; in 2004 he received the Lübeck Furtwängler-Förderpreis. He has premiered several works dedicated to him. On the album Schönberg. Monn. Cello Concertos (2013) he plays, with his orchestra under Roman Brogli-Sacher, Monn’s Cello Concerto in G minor with Schönberg’s cadenzas and Schönberg’s Cello Concerto in D major, and on the album Arnold Schönberg: Die Prinzessin (2008) the cello part of the Chamber Symphony No. 1 op. 9.
