Born on 6 May 1954 in Münster, died on 1 January 2021 in Wilnsdorf; Jan Vering was a German gospel singer, journalist and dramaturge. He performed spirituals and gospel music in jazz clubs, youth centres and parish halls; in 1992 his album “Leisestärke”, produced by Dieter Falk, was released. He later worked as an editor and for ten years was music dramaturge and deputy artistic director of the Apollo-Theater in Siegen. Together with Siegfried Fietz he spent two years turning texts by Matthias Claudius into songs for “Der ungesungene Claudius”. On the gala recording Doc Heilein and Friends Gala 2023 – Ich will keine Schokolade (2023) Matthias Heilein sings “Gnade für die Welt”, for which Jan Vering wrote the lyrics and Siegfried Fietz the music; Vering himself recorded the song in 1992 on “Leisestärke”.
