Jon English

Trombonist

Jon English is a trombonist working in Cologne who is documented in the European improvisation and new music scene of the 1970s and 1980s. He worked with musicians such as Slide Hampton, Steve Lacy and Manfred Schoof; he appears as trombonist on Schoof’s orchestra recording *Reflections* of 1983. In 1975 English played the first performance of Rolf Gehlhaar’s *Rondell* for trombone, and in 1984 he took part in a project by Phil Niblock in Berlin. He took the trombone part in Johannes Fritsch’s *Trio 1977*; the recording is listed in the German National Bibliography.
