Michael Veltman

Conductor / Organ / Composer

* 1960 in Bonn; organist, conductor and composer; studied church music in Cologne and composition there with Friedrich Jaecker, organ in Paris and Saarbrücken, and chamber music with Vladimir Mendelssohn in Essen. For many years he was a church musician in Troisdorf; today he is organist and artistic director for music at the Kunst-Station Sankt Peter in Cologne. Organ recitals have taken him to the Romantic organs of Notre-Dame de Paris, Rouen and Saint-Denis, among others. He founded the Ensemble Tra I Tempi for contemporary music, of which he is artistic director, and from 2005 presented with it the concert series “Erlebnis Neue Musik” at the Theater im Ballsaal in Bonn. His compositions range from solo pieces to music theatre and orchestral works. On the album Portrait Friedrich Jaecker (2001) he conducts the Ensemble Tra I Tempi in four of Jaecker’s works, including “Streichorchester” and “Sopran, Ensemble”.
