Sascha Reckert

Sascha Reckert is a musician, instrument maker and director and has specialised in glass instruments and their repertoire since 1986. In his workshop he reconstructs, restores and researches historical instruments, among them the glass harmonica, and with the Verrophon, an instrument made of glass tubes, he developed a contemporary variant. For the Salzburger Festspiele in 1991 he reconstructed the glass harmonica for the first performance of Richard Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten” in its original instrumentation. He initiated new editions of scores and wrote an article on the glass harmonica for a music encyclopaedia, giving an overview of history, organology, repertoire and research. In 1996 he founded the ensemble sinfonia di vetro for opera, orchestral and chamber music with glass instruments. In 2017 Cybele Records released Bernd Alois Zimmermann and the Late Symphonic Works with him on the glass harmonica.
