Born 1958; Tilmann Claus is a composer, music theorist and teacher. He studied instrumental composition in Munich, Cologne and Milan, electronic composition in Cologne, and music theory. After teaching electronic composition at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf he became professor of artistic music theory at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and subsequently professor of music theory at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. There he also took on leadership roles as dean and vice-rector for study, teaching and research.
