Tom De Cock is a Belgian percussionist, conductor and artistic director with a focus on contemporary music. From 2000 to 2005 he studied at the Royal Conservatory Brussels with Gert François and Bart Quartier and from 2005 to 2009 with Peter Prommel at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, in each case with distinction; to this were added the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie in Frankfurt (2006/07) and the Lucerne Festival Academy under Pierre Boulez and Peter Eötvös. In 2015 he took his doctorate at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Royal Conservatory Brussels with a thesis on practising and performing complex contemporary percussion literature. He was percussionist of the Nikel Ensemble (2007–2012) and principal percussionist of the Brussels Philharmonic (2012–2021) and has been a core member of Ictus since 2014. Since 2018 he has directed the Advanced Master in Contemporary Music at KASK/Conservatorium Gent, and since 2021 the Festival Kortrijk. In 2014 Cybele Records released Jacqueline Fontyn and the Concerto with him on percussion.
