Wolfgang Fromme

Tenor / Singing teacher

Wolfgang Fromme founded the Collegium Vocale Köln in 1966 and shaped its profile as tenor, choral director and coach. After training as a singing teacher and state-certified music teacher at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, he taught singing from 1967 to 1972 at the Rheinische Musikschule and the Musikgymnasium in Cologne. With the ensemble he joined Renaissance music to the vocal music of the present; under his direction the Collegium Vocale Köln performed Karlheinz Stockhausen’s “Stimmung” internationally. Concert tours and festival appearances took the ensemble to major musical centres in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
