Annabelle Luis is a baroque cellist. In 2006 she graduated with a diploma from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon and joined the orchestra Le Concert Spirituel under Hervé Niquet, with which she continues to perform regularly; she also plays in the ensemble Le Concert d’Astrée under Emmanuelle Haïm. Her main focus is chamber music: for ten years she worked closely with the baroque ensemble Amarillis, with I Gemelli under Emiliano Gonzalez Toro she recorded Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” and vespers by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, and she plays with the violinist David Plantier in his ensemble Les Plaisirs du Parnasse. In 2015 she and Plantier founded the Duo Tartini, which takes up the duo of Giuseppe Tartini and his cellist Antonio Vandini; in 2019 the CD “Continuo, Addio!” was released, in which the cello rivals the violin in virtuosity in the first duos written especially for this combination. Her programmes range from baroque to jazz with Louis Sclavis and contemporary music by Gérard Pesson. She teaches at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon. On the Cybele album Dreyer. Détry. Vivaldi: Sonatas for Solo Instruments and b.c. (2019), recorded in February 2019 in the Immanuelskirche Wuppertal, she plays cello alongside Renata Duarte, Aline Zylberajch and Ricardo Rapoport.
