Duo Tango Amoratado

Founded in Dresden in 2000 by Jürgen Karthe (bandoneon) and Fabian Klentzke (piano); the Duo Tango Amoratado is devoted to Argentine tango. Both played in the Sexteto Andorinha from 1994 to 2009 and also perform in the Cuarteto Bando (since 2007) and in the Orquesta tipica Carambolage (since 2011). With experience in theatre music, readings and improvisation, they play their own tradition-based versions of well-known tango themes; the repertoire ranges from Eduardo Arolas via Francisco Canaro and Astor Piazzolla to Anibal Troilo. The duo’s own albums appeared in 2005, 2008, 2013 and 2018. On the album Katrin Dorn: Tangogeschichten (2004) it plays tangos by Astor Piazzolla, Angel Villoldo, Eduardo Arolas and others to the four stories read by Mirjam Wiesemann.
