Mirjam Wiesemann

Author / Stage direction / Speaker

Born in Düsseldorf in 1964; Mirjam Wiesemann is an author, actress, speaker and audiobook producer. She is the daughter of the pianist and composer Bernd Wiesemann, trained as an actress in Düsseldorf and appeared on stages in Krefeld, Bochum, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn, mostly in contemporary productions; to these were added film and television roles. In 2014 her art book Weht ein Stadtspaziergang durch den Traum appeared, combining photography and text into a walk through several cities. In 2004 she founded the audiobook series Wort&Musik with Ingo Schmidt-Lucas and speaks on some of the audiobooks herself: Katrin Dorn’s Tangogeschichten (2004), Urs Faes’s Als hätte die Stille Türen (2006), Martin Baltscheit’s Vom Mädchen das nicht schlafen wollte (2006), Arnold Schönberg: Die Prinzessin (2008) and her own stories of growing up, Auf Flügeln in die Tiefe (2010). In 2009 she founded, with Ingo Schmidt-Lucas, the Edition Künstler im Gespräch, in which composers speak for themselves – twelve volumes: from Karl Amadeus Hartmann through Hans Werner Henze, Pierre Boulez, Jacqueline Fontyn, Juan Allende-Blin and Bernd Alois Zimmermann to Wolfgang Rihm. For Die Prinzessin she received, together with Ingo Schmidt-Lucas, the ECHO Klassik 2009 and the LEOPOLD media prize; for Karl Amadeus Hartmann and the String Quartet the ECHO Klassik 2010 and, in 2011, the Deutscher Hörbuchpreis for the best publishing achievement.
