* 1974; composer, drummer and percussionist, improviser, educator and visual artist in Rotterdam; he studied composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Peter-Jan Wagemans, Klaas de Vries, Robin de Raaff and René Uijlenhoet as well as jazz drums. As a composer he has worked with the Asko/Schönberg Ensemble, the Nieuw Ensemble, the Doelen Ensemble and the DoelenKwartet, among others, as well as with his own groups such as Candy Container. As a drummer he plays modern jazz, improvised and composed new music and metal. At Codarts Rotterdam he teaches composition and improvisation. On the album Peter-Jan Wagemans: Cycles (2023) he plays Wagemans’ “Cycles” for piano, drums and sound file with the pianist Matthijs van Wijhe and the composer on electronics, including a self-built “trash xylophone” made of tiles, pieces of iron and wood.
