Gerald Eckert

Gerald Eckert was born in Nuremberg on 27 December 1960. He studied cello, piano and conducting at the Meistersinger-Konservatorium Nürnberg, mathematics at the University of Erlangen and composition with Nicolaus A. Huber and Walter Zimmermann, adding studies in electroacoustic composition in Essen. In 1996/97 he worked at CCRMA, Stanford University, and later taught in Darmstadt, Akiyoshidai and at Chung-Ang University in South Korea, among other places. Besides composing he appears as a cellist and since 1989 has also worked visually, with painting, exhibitions and installations.
