Born on 19 December 1952 in Seesen; Hans Mittendorf-Labiche is a composer and sound artist. He studied at the Universität Göttingen from 1976 to 1979 and took the first state examination; he learned harmony and counterpoint with Hermann Fuchs, the music director of the university. From 1988 to 1990 a scholarship from the Royal College of Music in London took him to Lawrence Casserley, and a scholarship from the Académie de Paris was devoted to composition. On the UPIC computer in the studio of Iannis Xenakis four electronic compositions came into being, which were performed in Darmstadt, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Berlin and Paris; in 1991 and 1992 he took part in courses in algorithmic and computer-generated composition at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe and at the Technische Universität Berlin. From 1996 he worked as a freelance artist in Caen, and in 1999 the CD “Transformation” appeared. His essay “Performance Topology: A science of multi-dimensional composition” was published by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Elektroakustische Musik in its Mitteilungen 23. Four albums connect him with Cybele. Three of them are volumes of the DEGEM series in which the label documents the work of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Elektroakustische Musik: Imaginary Landscapes (2000), kontinuum … bruchlos (2003) and 90 Seconds of Reality (2005). To these is added a contribution to the audiobook production Weht ein Stadtspaziergang durch den Traum (2014).
