Born in Stuttgart on 4 January 1966; Klaus Schedl is a German composer. From 1991 to 1996 he studied composition with Hans-Jürgen von Bose at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. In 1993 he founded the ensemble piano possibile for contemporary music. In 1996 he received a working grant from the city of Munich for his opera “Tod der Hasen”, premiered at the Prinzregententheater in Munich in March 2000; in 1998/99 he taught analysis and composition at the conservatories in Coimbra and Viseu, and in 2001 he went to IRCAM with a scholarship from the Free State of Bavaria. For “City Scan München”, premiered at the Munich Biennale in 2006, he received a project grant from the city of Munich in 2005; his opera “Tilt” (2010) after the diary of Sir Walter Raleigh, libretto by Roland Quitt, formed part of the evening “Amazonas” at the Munich Biennale, in Sao Paulo and in Rotterdam, followed in 2011 by the song cycle “Les Fleurs du Mal” after Charles Baudelaire. On the Cybele album piano possibile (2000) his ensemble piece “Running Man” (1997/99) opens the programme, a restless sequence of rhythmic patterns in changing metres played by the ensemble piano possibile.
