Michael Rotschopf

Born in Lienz in Tyrol on 28 October 1969; Michael Rotschopf is an Austrian actor and speaker. From 1989 to 1993 he trained as an actor at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna, and from 1993 to 1995 he received vocal training in the Arnold Schoenberg Chor. From 1992 he was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Wiener Burgtheater for five years; further positions were the Schauspiel Frankfurt and regular appearances at the Salzburger Festspiele, among them the title role of the “Dreigroschenoper” in 2015. He worked with directors such as Peter Stein, Adolf Dresen and Matthias Hartmann. In 1996 he received the O.-E.-Hasse-Preis of the Akademie der Künste Berlin, later, among other awards, the Grimme-Preis. As a speaker he appeared internationally in Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s “Requiem für einen jungen Dichter” in New York, Paris, London and Berlin; he also works as a speaker for radio plays and audiobooks.
