Sofja Gülbadamova

Born in Moscow, Sofja Gülbadamova is a Russian-German pianist with a repertoire ranging from the Classical and Romantic periods to early modernism. Her training began at the Gnessin special music school in Moscow; she then studied with James Tocco at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, with Jacques Rouvier at the Conservatoire de Paris and at the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris. She has won prizes at international piano competitions, among them the Concours international pour piano in Aix-en-Provence and the Francis Poulenc Competition in Paris in 2008, and has performed as soloist, chamber musician and recitalist in Europe, America and Russia. A particular focus of her work is the rediscovery of composers such as Ernst von Dohnányi and Eugen d’Albert; since 2018 she has been artistic director of the International Brahms Festival in Mürzzuschlag.
