Sofja Gülbadamova

Sofja Gülbadamova was born in Moscow and is a Russian-German pianist. Her training began at the Gnessin Special Music School in Moscow with Michail Chochlow; she then studied with James Tocco at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, with Jacques Rouvier at the Conservatoire de Paris and with Guigla Katsarava at the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris. In 2008 she won the Concours international pour piano in Aix-en-Provence and the 6th International Francis Poulenc Piano Competition in Paris, and in 2010 the Grand Prix of the Rosario-Marciano-Klavierwettbewerb in Vienna. As a soloist she has appeared with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra under Michail Jurowski and with the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal, among others. One focus of her work is on composers such as Ernst von Dohnanyi and Eugen d’Albert; since 2018 she has been artistic director of the Internationales Brahmsfest Mürzzuschlag. In 2017 hd-klassik released the recording Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal LIVE (Vol. 1) with her as soloist.
