Tara Bouman

Clarinet / Bass clarinet

Born in Leiden in 1970; Tara Bouman is a Dutch clarinettist and plays clarinet, bass clarinet and basset horn. She studied at the conservatoires of Amsterdam and Rotterdam with Walter Boeijkens and Piet Honingh. As a performer of contemporary music she worked regularly with the ASKO Ensemble, the Schönberg Ensemble and the Ensemble Musikfabrik NRW and was a member of the Ensemble TEYAS. Her first CD brings together solo and duo works by Markus Stockhausen, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Isabel Mundry and Pierre Boulez; on 10 February 2007 she gave the premiere of Ana Lara’s “Concierto para corno di basseto” with the Orquesta Filarmonica de la UNAM. Since 2002 she has formed the duo Moving Sounds with Markus Stockhausen, which combines composed works, improvisation and intuitive music and has performed in numerous European countries as well as in Israel, Russia, the USA and Chile. Since 2008 she has also taught Iyengar yoga.
