Échelons; Mein blaues Klavier; Transformations II; Coral de Caracola. Allende-Blin’s organ music brings together serial experience, the work of remembrance and a tradition carried further. The three-movement cycle Échelons culminates in a tombeau for the Bauhaus artist Lothar Schreyer. Mein blaues Klavier, after Else Lasker-Schüler, extends the organ with barrel organ and jew’s harp; Coral de Caracola unfolds a large-scale, spiral chorale idea.
Here the organ appears not as a mere instrument of tradition but as a laboratory for sound, time and space. Registral colours, mechanical noises, spatially separated sound sources and the particular acoustics of the recording venue become compositional parameters.
