* 1969 in Germany; recorder player and conductor; studied in Zurich and Milan; professor of recorder at the HfM Nürnberg. He studied from 1988 to 1994 and took the concert diploma with distinction in 1995; his most important teachers were Matthias Weilenmann (recorder) and Thomas Fehr (Alexander technique), and he was supported by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and by the DAAD. At the Internationaler Blockflötenwettbewerb Calw he received two first prizes in 1992. He has worked with the harpsichordist Egon Mihajlovic since 1992, and in 1999 he founded the Baroque ensemble Vivi Felice. He has taught recorder in Nuremberg since 1994, where he additionally held a teaching post for Alexander technique from 1999 to 2001 and has directed the studio für neue musik since 2001. His work with Rolf Riehm, György Kurtag, Myriam Marbe and Carola Bauckholt produced more than twenty premieres up to 2003. He works regularly with composers of the present day such as Salvatore Sciarrino and Dai Fujikura, founded the festival TRANSIENT Impulse together with the Kunststiftung NRW in 2021, and was elected a full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg in November 2024. Four albums connect him with Cybele, all recorded between 1998 and 2003. Three of them he plays in duo with Egon Mihajlovic on harpsichord, organ and harmonium: German Music of the 18th Century with works by Johann Sebastian and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and by Händel (1998), Il Ritratto dell’amore with French music from Hotteterre and Couperin to Roussel, Poulenc and Milhaud (1999), and Vivi felice! with music of the 15th to 18th centuries from Italy, Spain and Dalmatia (2003). Beside them stands without compression (1998) with the Trio Diritto and works for recorder trio by Goldstein, Riehm, Marbe, Vieru, Thomas, Kröll and Dinescu – so the coexistence of early and new music that marks his work is mirrored in the catalogue as well.
