Founded in 1989 in Frankfurt am Main by Jeremias Schwarzer, Ines Rasbach and Martin Hublow; the recorder trio combined the performance of early music with the development of new works together with composers. In 1992 it won a first prize at the Internationaler Blockflötenwettbewerb Calw, a prize that had never been awarded there before; in 1994 its first CD appeared on Moeck. Alongside new works the trio played its own versions of instrumental and vocal music of the 14th to 16th centuries. It gave the premieres of ten works, including pieces by Rolf Riehm, Caspar Johannes Walter, Violeta Dinescu and György Kurtag. On the album without compression (1998) the Trio Diritto plays seven works for three recorders by Rolf Riehm, Myriam Marbe, Anatol Vieru, Violeta Dinescu, Georg Kröll, Stefan Thomas and Malcolm Goldstein.
