Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken

Orchestra

Symphony orchestra of the Saarländischer Rundfunk; in 2007 it merged with the SWR-Rundfunkorchester Kaiserslautern into the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern. At the suggestion of Hans Zender, its chief conductor at the time, the Saarländischer Rundfunk asked several composers to bring music from the period before Monteverdi into the concert hall; this gave rise in 1978 to Rolf Riehm’s “He, très doulz roussignol joly”. In the same year the collaboration with Stanislaw Skrowaczewski began, which resulted in numerous CD productions and several tours of Japan. On the album Rolf Riehm: Orchestral Works (2005) the orchestra plays “He, très doulz roussignol joly” under Hans Zender and, under Oswald Sallaberger with Ksenija Lukic, Christoph Späth and Yaron Windmüller, Riehm’s Bach paraphrases “Die Erde ist eine Schale von dunkelm Gold”.
