de Stad and Stadsgeschiedenis were created in 2003 as two interconnected perspectives on the same sonic idea. The ensemble work unfolds in six movements, while the electroacoustic montage condenses its material into a continuous progression.
The instrumentation of Ensemble Gelber Klang brings together bass and contrabass clarinets, bass trombone, percussion, accordion, piano and strings. Oscar van Dillen directs the recording himself, combining precise ensemble work with an electronically extended acoustic space.
The Hybrid SACD is designed in stereo and multichannel sound. Its seven-part programme has a total duration of 74:23.
