Sandro R. Müller

Born on 18 November 1955 in Wiesbaden, died on 18 January 2024; organist; from 1979 he studied organ with Gerd Zacher at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen. From 1979 to 2020 he was organist at the Alte Reformierte Kirche and at the Thomaskirche in Wuppertal and at the same time served as cemetery organist for the city of Wuppertal. He appeared in public only rarely until 1994; his recordings are devoted to the French symphonic heritage and to Iberian organ music. The first two volumes of his complete Tournemire recording were made in July and August 1994 on the Alexander Schuke organ of the Alte Reformierte Kirche Wuppertal-Elberfeld. Eighteen albums connect him with Cybele and make him the most frequently represented performer in the catalogue after Martin Schmeding. Between 1994 and 2014 he recorded Charles Tournemire’s “L’Orgue Mystique” complete – fourteen volumes on six different organs, among them the Alexander Schuke organ of the Alte Reformierte Kirche Wuppertal-Elberfeld, the large Rieger organ of Marienstatt Abbey, the Seifert-Weyland organ of the Liebfrauenkirche Bottrop-Eigen and the Rieger organ of the collegiate and provostry church of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Kleve. The early volumes were made with support from the Kunststiftung NRW. To these are added four albums of organ works by Juan Bautista Cabanilles, again on the Rieger organ of Marienstatt Abbey.
